Ann Curry
Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has reported on the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of those who live in these places. Curry has reported from the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry was an American journalist, reporter for the TV news and host best known as a correspondent for the Today program, a daily morning news program aired on NBC. Curry is well-known for her reporting of humanitarian crises and natural disasters particularly in nations that have been devastated by the war. Curry's father was a sailor within the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. She met her mother while living alongside the father of her parents in Japan following World War II. The family was frequently on the move because of the service of her dad in the military. Curry was a student at the high school in Ashland, Oregon. She earned a journalism certificate at The University of Oregon in 1978. Curry graduated from Ashland the high school. Her first job would lead to a lucrative career as an intern at broadcasting station KTVL Channel 10 Medford. She was the first female news correspondent at this station at the age of 22. Later, she became an anchor/reporter for KGW at Portland Oregon. Then, four years later she moved into Los Angeles and became a reporter for KCBS TV. She was awarded 2 Emmy Awards during the six years that she worked for this station.
